Question by C. L. Richardson: What causes children to develop crushes on other kids?

I mean young children, like age 5 or 6. Is it some kind of hormone or do they just get the idea from movies they watch and romances they observe in real life?

Those "crushes" change from day to day. I had them, and I'm sure everyone else has had them as well at that age.
